Originally a public-house when the Lewes-Brighton road passed along this route.
Dated 1732. L-shaped building. Two storeys. Five windows. Faced with flints
with red brick dressings and quoins. Slate roof. Casement windows. Stone
with the date 1732 and the initials "WB" (probably William Beard).
