Walls of Old Naval Prison

Walls to Old Naval Prison. 1793. Red brick in English bond with buttress at north west corner. L-plan wall about 5 yards long east-west with longer arm to south, all about 12-15 feet high. The prison had been built for civilian use but was taken over for use in the Crimean War; it was demolished in 1963 to make way for a road scheme, leaving only the walls mentioned above.
