Circa 1870. Attributed to Decimus Burton. 3 similar semi-detached pairs of houses.
Stuccoed. Slate hipped roofs with wide bracketed eaves. 3 storeys and semi-basement.
4 windows wide, centre 2 windows in slight projection with ground floor canted
bays, 1st floor 3-light windows with cambered cornice over centre light, 2nd floor
3 round-headed pilastered doorways to left and right with 1 window on each floor
above, both in moulded architraves. All sashes without glazing bars. Stuccoed
chimneys with cornices. Nos 2 and 5 have later porches, No 3 has later second
floor balcony. No 5 has plaque "Here lived Herbert Spencer Philosopher and Biologist".

Mount Lodge and Nos 1 to 11 (consec) form a group, of which Nos 8 to 11 (consec) are
of local interest only.
