2.
Barn, of C16 or perhaps earlier. Timber frame with weather boarding, some wattle and daub,
and a corrugated iron roof of steep pitch, hipped at each end. Three bays and two storeys,
being now floored in at the level of the middle rail. Down braces in walls at upper
level. Arch braces to tie beams, which support simply chamfered crown posts with quadrant
braces to the collar purlin and one down brace each (on opposite sides) to the tie beam.
Broad, flat rafters. A rare survival in Sussex.
