House, formerly a farmhouse. Early C17 remodelled in C18, C19 rear wing, later
alterations. Timber frame range rewalled externally: brick ground floor, tile
hung first floor. Hipped plain tile roof. Red brick ridge stack: double linked
shafts with corbelled cornice. L plan: 3 unit range with baffle entry between
left and central units, C19 wing behind right hand unit, rear outshut. Two storeys
and part attic. Ground floor walls at either end of range in chequer pattern of
red stretchers and dark headers, front ground floor wall rebuilt in red brick with
some random dark headers. Front Elevation: 3 wood casements to each floor; 4, 3
and 2 lights with leaded rectangular panes in renewed frames on ground floor alternating
with 2 doorways; 2, 3 and 4 lights with leaded diamond panes on first floor.
Boarded door in heavy door frame to lobby on left, door with small upper lights on
right. Interior: on ground floor some exposed storey posts, stop chamfered
bridging beams, a pair of backing inglenook fireplaces with chamfered brassomers
in stack. Fireplace in left hand unit lined with dressed stone. On first floor
exposed jowelled posts and principal beams. Queen post roof in attic with collars
cut out in part. Square panel framing of C17 rear wall visible within the outshut.
