Nos 172 and 173


Pair of estate cottages built by the Duke of Norfolk in 1847 and bearing this date
with the initial "N" and a ducal coronet. Two storeys. Two windows. Faced with
flints with long and short red brick window dressings and quoins. Slate roof with two
half-hipped gables to the north front and a pointed gable to each of the east and west
fronts. Casement windows with latticed panes. Two stone bays on ground floor. Small
gabled stone porches on east and west fronts.
