Ivy Dene
House. Early mid C19, altered 1920s. Red brick with blue head in Flemish bond
on sandstone plinth; Welsh slate roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays; formerly with rear out-
shut under catslide roof, this raised to 2 storeys under separate gabled roof 1920s.
Slightly asymmetrical plan, the entrance and stair hall being to left of centre and
the right-hand room having inglenook fireplace. C20 part-glazed door under
bracketed canopy with 2-light window above and a 3-light window to either side on
each floor, all windows having segmental brick arches and metal-framed small-pane
casements. End stacks. C20 pent greenhouse on left side and weather-boarded garage
lean-to with plain tile roof on right side are not of special interest. Rear: part-
glazed C20 door under canopy with a small inserted window to left and a segmental-
arched window to either side with C20 glazing on 1st floor, windows of 3, 2 and
3 lights, having 4-pane wooden casement stack at right end, formerly with bread
oven reached from outside. Left return rendered. Interior: inglenook in front
right-hand room has a small window in the gable wall (at front) and a smaller
fireplace within.
