C18 refronted in C19; since, much altered. Tiled roof. 3 storeys. Cemented.
Rusticated quoins. Formerly large parapet with panel above bearing name of
inn; since replaced by a plain modern parapet. 3 windows bays. Sash windows
in attic storey. On 1st floor at each end, a modern 4 light casement window
in frame, transomed and mullioned. 2 light casement window in centre with
C19 frame; window with stuccoed frame with cornice over; balconette before
window. On ground floor, modern plate-glass shop fronts flanking doorway
with stuccoed pilasters, elaborate capitals and plain entablature. Large
modern flat cantilevered hood extending across whole of front above ground
floor. Western side facing Tower Street and adjoining Nos 53-56 Tower Street:
red brick and grey headers alternately. Formerly, the Eagle Inn.
