Wall and outbuilding
22.2.55 adjoining to the west
of Cookes House
Gateway, wall and outbuilding. The Gateway was probably built by Allan Cooke about
1610, when the porch, which the Gateway greatly resembles, was added to the house.
Stone four-centred pedestrian archway with cornice above surmounted by a pediment
inset within the cornice with ball finials at the apex and angles. To the north and
south of this is a stone wall enclosing the garden on the west side, the south
portion of which adjoins an outbuilding of stone rubble with a half-hipped tiled roof
and a pointed archway now blocked up and faced with flints.
