Originally Midhurst Union workhouse. The building has a later C18 character but
probably was not built before the Poor Law Act of 1834. The main building faces
east. Uncoursed stone with red brick dressings, quoins and dentilled eaves cornice,
the stone set in galletting. Hipped tiled roof. Glazing bars intact. Ground floor
addition of 3 windows to the north. Later balcony on third floor facing south.
3 storeys. 5 windows. Long wings at right angles behind forming 3 sides of a
courtyard.
