Cottage, probably early C18. Squared dressed stone with brick dressings and tile
roofs. The original cottages is of 2 rooms on each floor, now thrown into one on
ground floor. Small windows with cambered brick heads below and wooden lintels
above, all diamond-paned casements recently renewed. The door, which is C20 in a
cambered-headed surround, is protected by a tile hood hung from 2 squat brick
buttresses, which rise nearly to the eaves and end in small moulded gables. One
gable stack. At the rear is a continuous (and apparently original) outshut. To
left and right are C20 single storey additions. Inside is a large fireplace with oven,
crude joists (one trimmed where the access was to 1st floor), and very rough tie beam
and rafters.
