South Harting
9/5 The Grange
Early C19 L-shaped house. Stuccoed. Dentilled eaves cornice. Hipped slate roof.
Centre portion projects slightly with pilasters and pediment over. Some sash
windows with glazing bars, some casements. Doorway with moulded architrave surround
and door of six fielded panels. Three storeys. Three windows. The west wing
has a turret, added in 1846, with projecting quoins, segmental-headed windows and
a hipped roof. Anthony Trollope lived here from 1880 until his death in 1882.
