Pair of houses. Early C19. Red brick with mathematical tiling to bows, south
elevation tile hung and tiled roof. 3 storeys and semi basement. Two 3-light bows,
clad with mathematical tiles, through all floors, except for ground floor where
they are interrupted by modern shop fronts. Original glazing to No 5, later C19
splayed bays inserted into bows of No 4. Paired central doorcases with round-headed
fanlights, panelled reveals and 6 panelled doors (the top 4 fielded, the bottom
2 flush). No 5 has an additional similar doorcase to north. 7 stone steps.
Renewed railings, not in keeping.
