House in 2 builds. Late C15 or early C16 gabled south part of one bay with late
C16 or early C17 continuous jetty house of 3 bays added to north. Timberframed
with plaster infill and Horsham stone slate roof. South wing is close-studded with
plastered infill and has jowled posts. Original moulded wooden bargeboard to left
hand gable. 4 light mullioned window to 1st floor and 5 light mullioned and tran-
somed window to ground floor. North wing has square framing and has 3 ovolo-
moulded mullioned and transomed oriels to 1st floor, partially restored, and
2 original ovolo-moulded projecting mullioned windows on renewed brick plinths to
ground floor. Simple plank door to right hand side and modern glazed door to left.
North elevation to Hickman's Lane has an overhanging gable with moulded wooden
bressummer supported on wooden brackets. West elevation has a fine late C16 brick
chimney stack in English bond crow-stepped at the top with a cruciform stack and
sandstone base. Interior of No 47 has frame of fine quality with spine beam and
joists with lambs-tongue steps and angled Queen strut roof.
