Large house. Dated 1709 : rebuilding of an earlier house; mid C19 rebuilding
and lowering by one storey. Ashlar front, brick returns and roof of Welsh slate
with stone gable copings. 2 storeys, 7 bays double span. Central and outer ones
project slightly. All windows margined sashes in architraves except at ground
floor left, a double sash. Central 5-panelled door under oblong fanlight in
bolection-moulded doorcase having heads and flower chains hanging from brackets
to broken scrolled segmental pediment; cherub's head in rinceau frieze, Belasyse
arms flanked by 1709 and scrolls in pediment. Cill bands, eaves cornice. Roof
has low coped parapet, five corniced ashlar chimneys on the front span.
Historical note : the Belasyse family owned the manor and grange of Morton
1525-1678.
