of Stonygate Pumping station.

Gate piers and gates. 1890. Probably by J.E. Wolfe, resident engineer to
Sunderland and South Shields Water Company. 3 gate piers : brick rendered in
imitation of stone; terracotta. Plinth; deeply rusticated bands of rendered
brick alternating with terracotta strings; moulded cornices and round-topped
square-section finials of terracotta. Vehicle and one pedestrian gates of
cast iron; lower panels of water-leaf, seed pod and spiky flower decoration.
