south west wall.
G.V. II*
Fort wall, 1672. Sandstone ashlar and brick. Tapered nosed wall; brick upper
courses with bricked-up musket holes. Partly obscured by later buildings.
Source: H.E. Craster History of Northumberland vol. VIII 1907; 182,200, 276.
Partly demolished by building work south of Trinity House almshouses in progress
at time of survey. A scheduled ancient monument.
