G.V. II
War Memorial. Circa 1918 for Borough of Wallsend. Granite and bronze. Bronze
angel of victory on sphere on very tall scroll-topped obelisk. Palm decoration
to corner panels of plinth on stepped base. South panel commemorates dead of
First World War; inscription on step those of Second. Top of plinth inscribed
AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN AND IN THE MORNING WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.
