7/159 Fire Station
Fire station. Circa 1908 by E.F.W. Liddle and P.L. Brown for the Borough of
Wallsend. Sandstone ashlar, brick with ashlar dressings. Restrained Baroque
style. 2 storeys, 5 windows and left vehicle entrance archway. Rusticated
ground floor has recessed arches to 2 engine entrances with glazed doors;
6-panelled door and overlight at right, and sash window in fifth bay. 6 first
floor sashes in architraves with moulded sills. Upper glazing bars to all
sash windows. First floor string; modillioned eaves cornice and balustraded
parapet except in centre bays which have panel inscribed FIRE STATION.
