01/02/67 walls, gatepiers and gates

GV II

Kitchen Garden wall, gatepiers and gates. Mid C18. Red brick with brick
buttresses and stone coping. Gatepiers of brick with stone dressings.
Quadrangle, including Garden House (q.v.) opposite the gates. Short raised
central section of wall each side of the gates. Piers have moulded stone
plinths, quoins, entablature and dentil cornice; sunk panel to each face.
Elaborate wrought iron gates with overthrow of Conway-Seymour arms.
