01/02/67 (Formerly listed under
Stratford Road (or Tower
House, now hotel. Late C16 (V.C.H.) altered late C19. Timber framed, with
close studding and plaster infill on stone plinth. C20 tile roof and 2 brick
ridge stacks. Original plan indeterminate. 2 storeys and attic with 4
rendered gable dormers with shaped bargeboards; 4-window range. Late C19
4-panelled door in 'Queen Anne' style carved wooden doorcase; late C19 porch.
Ground floor has early C19 tripartite sash windows with glazing bars; other
floors have late C19 casements with glazing bars. Left gable has close
studding and small framing above, right gable wider studding and larger
framing, both with whitewashed brick infill. Interior: Very much altered.
Subsidiary late C16/early C17 straight flight staircase. Big late C19 brick
addition to rear.
