GV II

Farmhouse, probably fomerly part of a stable range. Early C17, altered late
C19/early C20. Regular coursed ironstone. Tile roof has moulded coped gable
parapet on left; old stone central stack and late C19/C20 end stack on right
have tall C19/C20 square shafts with continuous moulded cornice. Original plan
indeterminate. One storey and attic; 4-window range. Diagonal buttress on left
and 2 further buttresses, all with 2 offsets. Entrance toward right end has C19
flush 6-panelled door and overlight with glazing bars. Painted wood lintel.
Cavetto-moulded stone mullioned windows. Hood moulds. To left and right are late
C19 wood mullioned and transomed windows with glazing bars, set in original
moulded openings. Dormers with coped gable parapets and cavetto-moulded 3-light
mullioned windows. C19 dormer above entrance has C19 two-light mullioned window
without hood mould. 3-light mullioned window to left, and gabled false dormer
with C19 casement above. Left end has a 3-light wood mullioned window with
painted wood lintel. Left return side, to road, has 4, 3 and 2-light mullioned
windows. To rear: irregular fenestration, with 3-light mullioned window on
extreme left. Staircase projection on left has coped gable parapet and 2-light
mullioned window with label. Irregular fenestration of late C19/C20 casements
with glazing bars, and half-dormers. C19 doors. Interior riot inspected, but said
to have open fireplace and original newel staircase. Probably built as stable
range of Wormleighton Manor House (q.v.).
