9/170, 3/170 Lower Farmhouse and attached
Farmhouse and attached farm buildings. Farmhouse. C17 with later alterations and
C19 wing. Regular coursed limestone banded with ironstone. C19 wing in ashlar
ironstone. Red tile roofs. Brick stacks on stone bases to ridge and ends. Single
storey plus attic. 5-window range altogether. L-plan. Entrance to left has plank
and rail door, wood door-frame and stop-chamfered wood lintel. Ground floor has
a 3-light wood casement with wood lintel, a 2-light and a 4-light
stone-mullioned window with hood moulds and label stops, a 2-light
wood-mullioned window with wood lintel. Attic has four 3-light wood casements
including 2 eaves dormers. Wing to right has 3-light stone-mullioned windows
with hood moulds and label stops. Stables, now outbuildings, attached to left.
Limestone. Tile roof. Single storey plus attic. Entrance to left has wide plank
door with wood door frame and wood lintel. Roof partly renewed. Interior of
Farmhouse: stop-chamfered beams and chamfered joists. Inglenooks with
stop-chamfered bressumer and moulded chamfered jambs. Ham curing chamber. Stone
flag floors. Plank doors with strap hinges.
