House. Early C17, with substantial early C19 alterations. Limestone ashlar with
plinth and coped gables. Stone finials to corners. Concrete tile roof with
ashlar end stacks with moulded bases, and 2 and 3 flues diagonally set and
linked by a moulded cornice. 2 storeys plus attic; 3-window range, with 2 flush
gabled bays. In traditional Cotswold style. 2-unit plan. To centre a 6-panelled
door set back within a 4-centred doorway with moulded jambs and spandrels. To
left and right of ground and first floors a 5-light mullioned window with
central, round-headed lights. To both gables a 3-light mullioned window with
central round-headed light. Oeil-de-boeuf light in apex of each gable. A moulded
storey band between ground and first floor, and first floor and attic. Hood
moulds above attic windows. Sundial. To lower left the original 5-light cellar
window. Further C19 five-light windows to left gable with original 5-light
cellar window below. Interior: said to have C17 staircase and panelling. Pevsner
describes the house as "an interesting case of imitation Cotswold style as early
as 1836. The real date is recognized by small solecisms".
