Shown as Lower Farm Cottage on O.S. map.
Farmhouse. Dated 1627, with C20 alterations. Squared, coursed limestone and
limestone ashlar with quoins. Slate and tile roof with ashlar end and ridge
stacks. One storey plus attic; 4-window range. 3-unit, through-passage plan. To
centre left a part-glazed door within C20 stone porch. To left and right C20
casements with original wood lintels. Three C20 dormers. Gable end to left has
one 4-light ovolo-moulded mullioned window, that to ground floor with king
mullion. 3-light ovolo-moulded mullioned window above. In gable, above window, a
plain datestone inscribed 'R 1627 B'. To rear a large external stack with
stone-slated gable and C20 brick flue. C20 door with wood lintel, with C19
two-light casement above. Interior: noted as having stone flagged passage floor
with timber and plaster partitions to either side. Chamfered spine beams with
joists, and large open fireplace with chamfered timber bressumer with ogee
stops. Further large open fireplace to rear wall, corresponding to large
external stack. 4-centred-arched stone fireplace with moulded spandrels may have
been reset.
