House. Mid/late C16, with mid C18 additions. Whitewashed coursed stone to ground
floor with rendered timber-framed first floor, the herringbone and
decorative-brace framing beneath render. C20-tile roof with large stone ridge
stack with four C17 flues diagonally set. L-shaped plan with jettied first
floor. 2 storeys plus attic; 2-window range to west and to north. Ground floor
windows to west, north and east are each of 4 lights with hollow-chamfered
mullions and transom, with king mullion. C19 canted bay shop front to ground
floor right of west facade. First floor windows to north are of 5 lights with
ovolo-moulded wood mullions and transom, and are supported on moulded brackets.
First floor of west facade has C18 bay with pediment, with a C19 three-light
casement to right. Leaded-light casements in gables to north and west. C20
panelled/glazed door with C17 doorcase to west. Jettied first floor and jettied
gables have moulded sole-plates and are supported on carved scroll and figure
brackets. Moulded bargeboards to north, with carved vine-scroll bargeboards to
west. C18 range to right has 2-light casements to first floor with glazed door
and C20 plate-glass shop front to ground floor. C20 extension to right. Early
C18 outbuilding range to rear, of brick in flenish bond with flared headers and
stone quoins. C20 garage doors and shop front. Interior: ground and first floor
rooms have ovolo- and hollow-moulded spine beams with stops. One first floor
room has a fireplace with four-centred head and moulded surround with carved
rosette stops. Timber-framed partition wall to first floor. C16 roof remains,
With purlins and braces visible. C18 range has stop-chamfered spine beams.
Outbuilding range to rear has Queen-post roof and chamfered spine beams with
small stepped stops.
