2 storey Almshouses of C17 origin (dated 1696). Nos 1 to 5 on left hand
side are of C17 brickwork with continuous stone hood mould at first floor
level. Very little remains of original stone dressings to windows and
these have been replaced with C19 casements with diamond-shaped lights.
Plinth has been rebuilt with blue bricks. Roof of old tiles.
Nos 7 to 10 on right hand side have interesting inscription of good lettering
set in bolection moulded panel stating that these almshouses were rebuilt
after the fire of 1694. Brick walls appear to be of C18 origin. Stone
plinth. Simple casement windows. Boarded doors. Roof practically renewed
with machine tiles with shaped ends. Chevron timber framing above, restored
plaster infilling, One flush dormer to attic having four-light mullioned
window, C19 leaded lights. Ground floor has been rebuilt in brickwork
and has C19 boarded door and mullioned window. Roof mainly of old tiles.
