Small circa early C19 stuccoed cottage. Pitched slate roof with gable at right
angles to road. One storey and attic. At ground floor - C19 three-light
casement under segmental arch, and plank door under gabled wooden porch. At
first floor - C19 sash window under segmental arch. Outshut against north wall
and large rendered chimney stack. Plaque on gable fronting road, "Joseph Arch
born here 1826, died here 1919". Joseph Arch was the pioneer who revolu-
tionised conditions for agricultural workers. (See Hammond's "The Village
Labourer".) Arch became MP for north-west Norfolk and later retired to
