Large circa mid C18 red brick house. Steeply pitched plain tile roof with
hipped ends apart from a later gable at north. Brick modillion eaves cornice.
Stone plinth. Stringband at first floor level. Two storeys and attic, 10
bay facade. A long almost symmetrical facade. The bay to the north is later
and slightly recessed, the central 5 bays to main portion project slightly.
Central to the projecting 5-bay portion is a circa 1808 square headed porch
with outer brick piers with stone plinths and capitals, and rusticated inner
stone piers, all supporting a stone entablature. The inner doorway has rusti-
cated stone jambs, and a 6-panelled door under a rectangular fanlight. Two
sash windows to either side of porch in central projecting portion, then 2
sashes to south flanking wing, and 3 sashes to north flanking wing, one of
these is narrower and inserted later. All with glazing bars, rusticated lintels
and cills. On later recessed bay to north, one sash window with glazing bars.
At first floor, 5 sash windows to projecting central portion, then 2 sashes
to each of the flanking wings. All with glazing bars, lintels with keyblocks
and cills. At attic to central projecting block are 3 dormers with slightly
cambered roofs, each with 2-light C19 casements. Five brick ridge chimney
stacks. Interior: Late C19 interior to ground floor rooms with fine entrance
hall consisting of three ornate plaster arches to north, south and east, T-
shaped staircase which rises beneath east arch up to back wall then branches
to left and right against back wall.
