Cottage. Probably C15/C16 origins, with later alterations. Cruck constrction.
Large timber framing with whitewashed brick infill; said to have some lath and
plaster infill in left return side. Right return side and rear wall rendered and
possibly rebuilt. Thatched roof has deep boarded eaves; rendered ridge and
external stacks, on right with shaft removed. 3-unit plan. One storey and attic;
2-window range. Entrance to rear. Small 2-light casements with glazing bars.
Ground floor has 3 windows and fixed light window. Small window below eaves.
Swept dormers. Plank doors to rear have C20 open porch. C19 whitewashed brick
range to left has slate roof. Double doors to return side. Interior: exposed
pair of cruck blades. Exposed framing and ceiling beams. Open fireplace has
bread oven. C17 panelling in several rooms, imported from elsewhere.
