6/17 Blabers Hall Farmhouse

Farmhouse. Mid C18. Squared sandstone irregularly coursed, on plinth.
Plain-tiled, hipped roofs with coved eaves cornice of sandstone and internal
stacks of red brick. Double-pile plan. 2 principal storeys. Front to the south
in 3-window bays. 3-light casements, under flat arches of dressed sandstone with
raised keyblocks. Similar arch to central doorway now glazed and part blocked.
C20 gable hood. Front to the west has similar window disposition but the 3-light
casements have original mullions. Central doorway under original flat wood
canopy on large shaped sandstone brackets. The door is of vertical and
horizontal boards with original iron work. Interior: Closed string staircase,
mid C18, with column balusters and toads-back rail. Plaster floors to 2 cheese
rooms, one in the attic and another at first floor. All the attic rooms are lit
from old roof lights, except for the cheese attic which has windows at the floor
height. Part of the house is cellared. The cellar lights have reused
ovolo-moulded mullions in the windows.
