Monument. c.1891. Sandstone. Roughly curved conical shape, approximately 1.9
metres in diameter and 2 metres high. A large vertical panel cut into it has
remains of inscription recording that Henry Grey, Duke of Suffolk, Lord of the
Manor of Astley and father of Lady Jane Grey, took refuge in a large hollow oak
tree on this spot. The tree was blown down in 1891.
