House, now guest house and restaurant, and attached walls. Early/mid C18.
Colourwashed stucco with brick cornice. Old plain-tile hipped roof; 3 brick
ridge stacks. L-plan, with wing on left to rear. 2 storeys and attic; 6-window
range. Central half-glazed 6-panelled door has flush-panelled reveals and
moulded surround. Early C19 stucco Tuscan porch has Tuscan column and pilasters
adjoining high wall attached at right angles on left. Sashes in moulded
surrounds; first floor has 16-pane sash to first bay. Four box roof dormers have
2-light casements with horizontal glazing bar. Interior not inspected. Attached
walls are early C19. English garden wall bond with coping. Wall between Chapel
House and north-east corner of Church of St. Mary (q.v.) is approximately 15
metres high and of 2 sections. Each section has slight projection with large
round blank arch, and flanking round-arched openings blocked with rat-trap bond
brick. Section adjoining Chapel House has round-arched door within blank arch.
Section at angle on left adjoins church and has doorway on left with wood
lintel. Wail attached to rear has section of sandstone rubble with 2 re-set,
3-light windows, possibly early Perpendicular work from the church.
