Former schoolmaster's house. Late C17; restored late C20. Flemish bond brick
with largely renewed sandstone dressings. Ripped old plain-tile roof; brief:
internal stacks to rear. Central staircase plan. 2 storeys and attic; 5-window
range. Symmetrical front has moulded plintfi, sill course and cornice, and giant
angle pilasters. Late C20) fielded 6-panelled door has renewed moulded architrave
with narrow vertical panels and large segmental pediment. Old sundial above has
renewed panel surround merging with pediment. C20 wood and metal mullioned and
transomed windows with glazing bars, of 2 lights to end bays and 3 lights to
inner hays, have brick flat arches with keystones. 2 roof dormers have wood
pediment and C20 casements. Left return side of sandstone rubble. Right return
side is a one-bay range, with old window to ground floor and blocked window
above. Interior not inspected.
