10/10 First World War memorial
approx. 25m N of Church of St.
Peter and St. Pau1
First World War memorial. Circa 1919. Ashlar. A rectangular pedestal on a plinth
with moulded coping is surmounted by a cross, and 2 statues: the figure on the
north side is an infantryman holding a rifle, and that to the south a sailor
holding a chain and rope. Both are in contemporary uniform. The memorial is
approached from all four sides by 3 steps; on the east and west the steps bow
out in the centre.
