Brewhouse, bothy and cheeseroom. Early C18, altered in C19.
Built of Isle of Wight stone rubble with slate roof and brick
end chimneystack. 1 storey and attics. Deep stone plinth. End
gables with stone coping and kneelers and 2 small C19 windows.
C19 square brick chimneystack to early C18 chimney. 2 windows,
largely C20 casements but one retaining part of an earlier
pegged wooden surround. Doorcase put in mid C19 with large
12-pane opening fanlight above and C19 plank door below. C19
lean-to extension of Isle of Wight stone rubble to rear with
iron grille, probably used to hang cheeses.
Interior has wide chimney with large wooden bressumer with
lamb's tongue stops and brick base to chimney. Bread oven with
old wooden shutter and pot hooks and chains for holding
utensils. Wide chamfered beams with lamb's tongue stops and
stone flag floors. Original straight flight wooden staircase
with wooden handrail leading to attic used sometimes as a
bothy. Through purlin roof and partitions of lath and plaster.
