1352-0/1/140 Oaklea and Alverstone Farmhouse
II

Farmhouse, now 2 cottages. Early C18. Front red brick on Isle
of Wight stone rubble base, rear elevation and ground floor of
left end elevation Isle of Wight stone rubble: Tiled roof with
off-central square brick chimneystack. 2 storeys and attics, 5
windows. Rectangular plan with 2 projecting outshuts to rear.
Mainly C19 casements. Ground floor windows have cambered head
linings but later casements inserted below this. C18 brick
gabled porch with round-headed arch incorporating a pair of
wooden seats and 2-panelled door behind. 1 circular iron tie.
Oaklea has a C19 outshut to-rear and Alverstone Farmhouse an
C18 one: One of the Domesday manors.
