SU 27 NW ALDBOURNE SWINDON ROAD

1/80 Barn at Aldbourne Warren Farm,
north-west of farmhouse


GV II

Barn. C18. Weatherboarding over timber framing on sarsen and brick sill
walls. Thatched roof. 7 bays, aisled on north. Jowled posts with
curved braces to ties. Raking queen struts, collar and double
purlins. The 2 east end bays floored over. 2 cart entrances on
north side with thatch swept over. Sill wall repaired on north
west, and section of thatch damaged. Large barns retaining their
traditional roofs are now uncommon in the area.
