Farmhouse. c1650-1700. Chalkstone on brick and sarsen sill walls.
Tiled roof. 2-storey and attic, 3 bays, lobby entry with single
rear bay, extended later by further bay, and with 2-storey, 2 bay
brick addition of early C19 in left re-entrant angle. Central
door, Cl9 6-panels, the upper 4 glazed within C20 porch. 16-pane
sashes replacing stone mullioned windows of which 2 survive on left
gable, chamfered with label mould. Rear wing with 3-light timber
windows and C17 iron casements and catches. Roof with 4-flue
central stack and quarter-hipped to left.
Interior: front rooms with plaster cornice, fielded panelling,
moulded fire surrounds and bolection panel over fireplace. Right
room with recessed cupboards, one with shaped shelves. Some C17
moulded doors. Early C18 door refixed in kitchen. Spine beams
with notched ogee stops. Roof 2 tiers of straight windbraces to
butt purlins. House being modernised 1984; revealing fireback
with fleur-de-lys and date I. B. 1700. In front of house, sarsen
cobble path and mounting block.
