4/227 Preston Gate Cottage


Cottage, early C19 refacing of earlier building. Brick laced
flint, possibly replacing timber framing, and thatched roof. Flint
only at rear but brick quoins to openings. 1-storey and attic, 5
bays in 2 builds; to left, 3 bays with part glazed door opposite
stack in the right bay, and attached to right, 2 bays with door in
first bay and gable stack. Wall plate continuous. Segmental brick
arches over ground floor casement windows. 2 flush dormers to
attic, the thatch swept over. Oven to rear of main stack,
apppearing externally.
