II
Schoolroom, now village hall. 1843. Limestone ashlar with slate
roof. Three bay schoolroom with low cross porches at ends, the
entrance in the right porch. Tudor arched doorway with label
mould, with small gable to porch and ribbon inscription. Panelled
timber door. Schoolroom has cross windows, also with labels, and
C20 glazing. Left porch with 2-light window and raised letter
inscription over, reading A.D.1843. THIS SCHOOL/(was built for
T(h)E PURPOSE / OF G(iv)NG / A BIBLE EDUCATION / TO THE / CHILDREN
OF THE POOR. Inscription replicated on stone panel below centre
window. Raised gables to schoolroom, the left with double flues,
right with tall bellcote.
