9/111 Bunce's Brewery
II

Generator House, 1914 (date on WC pan), for War Department, now
brewery with dwelling on top floor, on site-of former watermill.
Brick with tiled roof. Two storey turbine hall occupies whole of
ground floor. Brick buttresses. Stair tower at north end of east
side and open timber framed cable tower over north-east buttress.
Boarded sliding door in gable opening to road, having segmental
head, and segmental headed iron-framed windows, but C20 timber
windows to top floor dwelling. Internally, turbine hall has pit in
millstream for Francis radial and axial water turbine, now removed.
Internal buttresses as travelling gantry supports. Roof with
louvred gablet and centre copper clad ventilator with windvane.
The building generated DC power for the army at Netheravon camp,
using water power, and ceased operation c1925.
