WILSFORD THE STREET
SU 15 NW (south side)

Cottage. C15 or earlier. Timber framed with brick noggings.
Thatched roof. Single storey and attic. Five bays. Structure has
four pairs of full crucks, the third bay from the left formerly the
open hall with heavy smoke deposits on roof members. Pair to right
of hall has arch braces to collar, and crucks stop above collar on
backs of inner principal rafters rising to ridge. Opposite truss
in hall has crucks rising to saddle with stilted post to square set
ridge. Right-hand gable truss also with knee braces and half
hipped, with spurs to carry wallplates, and half dovetail below.
Stack inserted at east side of hall. External walls 2 panels high.
Entrance now in attached building to rear. Timber casement
windows. Stack and secondary door in right gable.
