15/95 Nos 15 to 25 (odd)
Row of six houses, late C18 altered in early C20, painted brick
with plain tile roof, end stacks and 2 ridge stacks. 2 storeys.
7-bay centre and projecting one bay wings with early C20 half-
timbering to gables replacing hipped roofs. Wings have ashlar band
continued across arched recess with ground floor casement pair.
Above band a female classical-style small statue on each wing,
standing on a short length of reused carved cornice. Main range
has cambered head casement pairs and ashlar band, the centre first
floor casement pair over a reset double niche with shell heads and
classical-style relief figure above. To each side of centre bay a
double-fronted section with 2 windows each floor and centre
doorway, each door giving access to two cottages. Similar carved
details appear on other High Street cottages, said to be fragments
from a previous house on the site of Erlestoke Park. Old
photographs show large curved thatched porches to centre range and
no statues affixed.
