Farmhouse, now house and cottage. C18. Diaper brick with stone
quoins to southern 4 bays. Slate roof. Two storeys, main
elevation of 6 bays with 6-panelled door and bracketed canopy in
third bay. Three bays to right earlier. Gauged segmental arches
with stone keys, altered late C18-early C19 when rewindowed with
12-pane sashes with wide boxes, the end bays tripartite. Manor
Farm was the scene of a violent farmworkers rising in 1830 when the
farmer Mr. Pyle discharged his firearms at the protestors, but was
saved from injury by one of his workers. Mr. Pyle had cut the
white horse above Alton earlier, in 1811.
