SU 16 SE (east side)

12/65 No 1 (Ball Cottage) and No 3


Two cottages at right angles. C16 and C17. Timber framed with
brick and wattle and daub infilling. Thatched roofs. Single
storey and attics. Ball Cottage has a full cruck frame on battered
brick and sarsen sill; the side framing 2 panels high. Two
windows in gable, one blocked. Half glazed door. No 3 is of 2 and
one half bays, 4 panels high with corner braces. Boarded door and
timber casement windows. Gable end has tension braces. Small
canted casement windows to upper floor. Stack in half bay. Date
on stack 1697.
