II

House, now school. 1902, for Bernard Hayward. Ashlar limestone,
tiled roof. Two and 3 storeys, with central 3-storey canted bay.
Neo-Jacobean style. Door in right bay under wide arch with
flanking fluted pilasters supporting entablature and crest rising
to embrace first floor window. Pair of panelled doors. Strapwork
panel with monogram BHC over. Stone mullioned and transomed
windows and cornice over first floor level, the left bay gabled
above. Arms, a sheaf of corn and motto DEUS DABIT INCREMENTUS on
the tower, which has a pebbledashed fascia and timber cornice and
lead dome. Garden front is of 3 bays with canted bays either side
of central entrance, each bay gabled.
Interior: Stair window has date in stained glass.
