5/151 Draycott Farmhouse

II

Farmhouse. C16-C17, and C18. Early part brick with timber framed
upper floor. C18 section squared limestone, and refacing of
earlier part with brick laced malmstone. Double ridged pantiled
roof. Two storeys, each section of 3 bays, and 1 bay rear wing of
C18 on right. Original plan altered, and not decipherable. Later
build has raised quoins. Door position altered, fluted doorcase,
renewed, and C18 moulded canopy on consoles carved with thistles.
C20 door. Windows and openings adjusted C20. C19 barge board at
end, which has exposed timber framing with brick infilling jowled
posts and corner braces. Clasped purlin truss. Probably on the
site of the manor of the deserted village, first recorded as a
Domesday estate.
