CHEVERELL MAGNA THE GREEN

House. Early-mid C18. Flemish brickwork with tiled roof. Two
storeys and attic, 3 bays. Approximate symmetrical plan, with
lobby to central stair, and gable stacks. House extended c1800 by
fourth bay to right. Central half-glazed door with flat canopy on
shaped wood brackets. Dentilled plat band. Oak windows, reglazed
with paned casement windows in early C19, three-light to outer
bays, those on ground floor with 9in brick segmental arches. Two
light central window. Added bay continues detail of elevation.
Lean-to outbuildings at both ends, with locally made pantiled roof.
Interior: Deep chamfered ceiling beam to room right of entrance
lobby, probably reused. Open fireplace with unmoulded elm mantel
beam on greensand piers. Oven and side seats. Spine beam with
chamfers and run-out stops. Angle fireplace in bedroom over. Roof
probably rebuilt in C19, has single tier butt purlins.
