Farmhouse, now house. Early C17. Greensand rubble to ground
floor, timber framing with colourwashed brick noggings to first
floor, pantiled roof. Two storeys and basement, bay system 2:½:1,
with stack in central half bay with lobby entry. Paired single
panel doors with metal bosses. Ground floor has 2 and 3-light
stone mullioned windows with reserve chamfers, with 2-light stone
windows to basement under the 2 left bays. First floor framing
square panelled 2 panels high with wavy corner braces, and canted
oriel windows with dentilled hoods, restored, supported on carved
brackets. To rear and offset parallel range C20 developed out of
timber framed rear wing to rear of left bay.
Interior not inspected.
Local tradition recalls that Cromwell stayed here after a local
skirmish.
